Troy is as ancient as the stories in the Holy Scriptures... Founded thousands of years ago in the Hisarlık region of Çanakkale, historical Ilion, or "Wilusa" as the Hittites called it, gave rise to a very ancient legend. One of the oldest and best-known stories in human history, where dream and reality, science and utopia intertwine... Western civilization owes its cultural heritage to the Legend of Troy more than anything else. This story, presumed to have taken place in 1180 BC, was etched into humanity's memory by another Anatolian poet. Committed to writing by the Izmir-born poet Homer through his immortal works Iliad and Odyssey, this tale became one of the most recognized masterpieces in all of world literature. So much so that it holds a place as significant and influential as all sacred scriptures, turning into a mysterious adventure that has most intrigued the chroniclers of all nations throughout history. Putting an end to this curiosity, research, and expeditions spanning three thousand years of history—bringing Troy back onto the stage of history and turning the legend into real history—was German archaeologist Heinrich Schliemann. The treasures of humanity, found by intuition relying on the mysterious voices of rumors and smuggled abroad through great adventures, became one of the foundations of modern archaeology. Schliemann taught us this: "The voices rising from the ruins are the voices of our past." Those who cannot hear the voices of the past cannot hear the voice of the future. The Fire of Anatolia Dance Troupe brings the legend of Troy to life. Three thousand years later, we say hello to this immortal work of art history from its Motherland. The luminous city that adorned the dreams of world leaders transcending eras, from the Hittite King Tudhaliya to Achilles, from Alexander the Great to Roman Emperor Caesar, from Persian King Xerxes to Byzantine Emperor Constantine, from Mehmed the Conqueror to Mustafa Kemal Atatürk... The cry rising from the ruins of Troy and the revival of a 3000-year-old mystical dream... From its homeland to all humanity. Time in Troy, space in Troy, love and boundlessness in Troy... A feverish work sustained in the shadow of a lost myth, a history and a musical uprising against overlooked history. Mustafa ERDOĞAN Artistic Director
