About the Event
Don Kişot’suz Don Kişot
What happens when the characters get mad at the author and escape from the book!
While Cervantes sits comfortably on the throne of classics, we are issuing tickets to the most cheerful rebellion in literary history!
We all know the story by heart: An idealistic, mad knight declares war on windmills, gets beaten black and blue, and loses his teeth on the road for the sake of "Princess Dulcinea", whom he has never even seen.
But what if things didn't actually happen like that at all?
A FIRST in world theatre history: In this play, Don Quixote isn't absent from the stage... He is there, but not in the way you know him at all!
Literature history's most absurd and long-suffering squire, Sancho Panza, recounts one by one his master's disastrous battles against windmills, flocks of sheep, and wineskins. But to whom? To the very pragmatic peasant girl for whom Don Quixote lost his mind, but who in reality smells of dung and grape must: Dulcinea.
Can there be a Don Quixote story without Don Quixote? Yes, and what a story it is!
Can a novel character stage a sweet rebellion against their own author and alter their destiny? Cervantes would surely roll his eyes if he saw it, but yes: the ideal and the real meet for the first time!
From the passion of turning a barber's basin into a helmet to squires cross-dressing as women, from funeral halva being spooned to giants drowning in a sea of wine... Literature’s most glorious story transforms into a fast-paced adult comedy from an angle NEVER HEARD BEFORE.
As we take our hats off to the dear memory of master Cervantes with a broad smile, we welcome all our audience to this performance where madness and wit, the classic and the absurd collide right in the middle of the stage.
