Anadolu Ateşi continues to burn!
The core concept of Anadolu Ateşi is the meeting of civilizations. It is a dance portrait aiming to bring Eastern and Western cultures together, conveying universal messages of peace. By synthesizing folk dances with ballet, modern dance, and other dance disciplines, it presents a cultural feast and a show meeting modern global standards. Drawing its source from Anatolia's thousands of years of mythological and cultural history, Anadolu Ateşi is an authentic project featuring 3,000 folk dance figures and folk music compiled from almost every region. Bearing the signature of Mustafa Erdoğan, the project aims to introduce the fire of Anatolia's millennia-old mosaic of culture and history, blended with peace, to the entire world.
Taking the first step in 1999 to realize a long-held dream, Mustafa Erdoğan initiated the intensive rehearsals for the project, formerly named Sultan’s of the Dance. First, "dancers wanted" ads were placed in newspapers. Out of 750 applicants, 90 youth were selected, and an arduous rehearsal schedule of one and a half years began. Sessions lasted 8, sometimes 16 hours a day... Costumes were prepared, music was completed. They worked with aesthetic exercise specialists, dietitians, and massage therapists. Stretching and yoga were practiced. Rehearsals focused on folk dance steps, ballet, and modern dance. Dancers took theoretical courses on the notation of Anatolian rhythms.
And on May 3, 2001, scheduled to take the stage for only 3-4 performances before heading abroad, the show's run in Türkiye was extended due to tickets selling out months in advance. Anadolu Ateşi began its world tour in 2002 and has been watched by over 50 million art lovers across more than 8,500 performances in 109 countries (visiting many countries multiple times). Regarded as one of the world's leading dance ensembles through its international tours and promotional efforts to date, Anadolu Ateşi is the most magnificent project reaching universal heights through the power of our national culture. Performing at major national events such as Eurovision 2004 and Universiade 2005, the troupe was followed with great interest by the world press. The group has performed in the world's foremost venues such as Madison Square Garden in New York, Chicago Theater in Chicago, Bercy in France, the Great Hall of the People in China, Kremlin Palace in Moscow, the historic Mosque of Muhammad Ali and before the Pyramids in Egypt, receiving standing ovations from world leaders including presidents, prime ministers, and kings.
Since 2001, Anadolu Ateşi has staged performances in Israel, Germany, China, Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, T.R.N.C., Japan, Austria, Qatar, Lebanon, Russia, Azerbaijan, Jordan, Siberia, Romania, Bulgaria, Egypt, France, United States, Hungary, Sarajevo, Bahrain, Malaysia, Greece, Georgia, North Macedonia, Serbia, Croatia, Dubai, Slovenia, Poland, Belarus, Latvia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Crimea, New Zealand, Tunisia, Italy, Slovakia, Albania, Palestine, Spain, Portugal, Syria, United Kingdom, and the Island of Martinique in the Caribbean, introducing Anatolian culture to the whole world.
