Our Choices and Free Will
About the Activity
Taking place in the first week of every month, Philosophy Talks continues with a new thought-provoking question.
This time, we question together whether our choices truly belong to us, the boundaries of free will, and our state of decision-making.
In the P4C Workshop for Adults titled “Seçimlerimiz ve Özgür İrade: Buridan’ın Eşeği”, led by Philosophical Counselor Cahide Aydın, we will explore the following questions through one of philosophy's most striking thought experiments:
If two options are equal, how do we decide?
Do we really make our decisions with our own free will?
Or do our past experiences, conditions, habits, and environment guide our choices without us realizing it?
Buridan's Ass is not just the story of a donkey stuck between two options, but also a powerful metaphor for the relationship human beings establish with the concepts of decision-making, freedom, will, and responsibility.
In this gathering, rather than ready-made answers, we will make room for new questions; we will think together, question, and bring different perspectives around the same table.
